Common Questions

Q: I forgot my password, can you recover my files?

No. Fog uses military-grade encryption and your password never leaves your device. Without the correct password, decryption is impossible — even for us. Please keep your password safe.

Q: Does Fog collect any of my data?

Absolutely not. All encryption happens locally on your device. We have no servers, no trackers, and no access to your files or passwords.

Q: Can I share encrypted files with others?

Yes! Use the "Encrypt to .fog.html" option. The recipient can open the HTML file in any browser and decrypt it with the password you share separately.

Q: What file types can I encrypt?

Fog can encrypt any file type — documents, images, videos, archives, and more. There are no restrictions on file formats.

Q: What is the maximum file size?

Fog supports files up to 2 GB for .fog format. For .fog.html files (self-decrypting HTML), we recommend keeping files under 200 MB for better browser compatibility.
